The ACT Government is likely to start issuing fines as early as next week, to political parties who've failed to take down election signs.

TAMS says city rangers have removed almost 300 his week, despite the election period officially ending at 6pm on Monday.

A spokesperson says a $220 fine could be issued per sign, meaning more than $60000 may go to the Government's coffers.

The Liberal Party has been the worst offender, with more than 100 outstanding election signs.
